Handbag is built privacy-first. Everything happens on your Mac. There are no accounts, no servers, and no analytics or telemetry of any kind.

What we collect

Nothing. Handbag does not transmit any personally identifiable information, usage data, files, contacts, or device identifiers off of your Mac.

What stays on your device

Your files dragged into the file tray
Your favourite people and pinned apps
App preferences and layout

None of this leaves your computer.

Local network features

When you transfer a file to a nearby Mac, the transfer happens directly between your devices over your local Wi-Fi network. No file ever passes through a server we operate.

Third-party services

Handbag does not embed third-party SDKs, analytics, ad networks, or crash reporting services.

Permissions Handbag may request

Camera — only if you open the Mirror utility, and only while open.
Local network — only when you initiate a Mac-to-Mac file transfer.
Accessibility / Automation — to open and control apps you launch from Handbag.

Children

Handbag is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone.
